If you think RE Amemiya only built Mazda RX-7s think again. Feast your eyes on the Greddy VI-AZ1. It's essentially an Autozam A1 featuring the magic touch of Isami Amemiya. The AZ-1 was a mid-engined, two-seat sports car. It was one of Japan's first ever contribution to cars with gull-wing doors. It was designed and manufactured by Suzuki, but was sold by Mazda.
The Greddy VI-AZ1 was built back in in 1996 for the Tokyo Auto Salon. Isami -San ditched the stock motor for a rotary engine and paired it with a T78-33G turbo. While many parts were made from Trust, others were custom RE Amemiya pieces.
