Vaughn Gittin and the Monster Energy/Falken Tire Ford Mustang take the victory at Formula DRIFT's Round 5: Throwdown at Evergreen Speedway.

Round 5: Throwdown was filled with many close battles and upsets as the action on the track showcased the true competition of the Series. Rhys Millen and the RMR Hyundai Genesis Coupe beat out Ken Gushi and the Greddy Performance Scion FR-S in a very close battle while Gittin's win came after a tightly fought battle with Ryan Tuerck and the Retaks Nissan 240SX.

"This has been one of the most exciting events of the season," said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. "The chase for the championship heats up as we head into the final two events of the season and it is still anyone's to take with only 62 points separating the top 5 drivers."

Gittin's victory in Round 5: Throwdown is his second consecutive victory for the season and puts him in the lead in the Pro Championship Points Standing.

The Formula DRIFT Pro Championship will continue on August 24-25 with Round 6: After Dark at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
