Frequenters of 2NR’s dgital global headquarters will no doubt be familiar with the 2010 Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge, and the fact that we’ve been pumping up our participation in this re-match event since the get-go. Here’s why:
If you recall, “technicalities” regarding the judging criteria of last year’s competition kept the 540whp, 11.40-second Super Lap champion EVO X we were backing from finishing any higher than Fifth in a field of seven competitors from Super Street, Modified, Honda Tuning, eurotuner, Lowrider and 5.0 Mustang magazines. Rather than lose poorly back then, we took our lumps and resolved to hit the ground harder this time around. After sifting through some truly impressive prospects from our readership, we’re proud to give you your first glimpse of the future 2010 Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge winner: Jim Cozzolino’s turbocharged ’91 Acura NSX.
Check a future issue of Import Tuner to learn more of this 600+whp track beast, who built it, just how fast its lap times really are, how Jim drove it from Phoenix, AZ to Huntington Beach, CA, and the canyons of San Diego for our photoshoot, and what else makes it undeniably the world’s Top Car. In the meantime, be sure to cast your vote at Castrol Syntec’s official Top Car Challenge website for us to become the future champs, because when we do, Castrol will give away a cool $10K to one lucky voter! www.syntectopcar.com
