Castrol Syntec announces the return of their Top Car Challenge, and asks us to pick an Import Tuner reader's car for the expense-paid competition! It gets better: Castrol will pay your way out here, we'll help with any last-minute adjustments, and if (and when) we win, you'll get another $10K from Castrol, and the royal treatment from us!
In short, Castrol Syntec's Top Car Challenge is an automotive Battle Royale among the nation's leading enthusiast automotive publications: us, Super Street, Modified, Honda Tuning, eurotuner, European Car, and 5.0 Mustang, with each selecting their idea of the ultimate performance car, to compete head-to-head with the others in areas of: acceleration, braking, horsepower and torque output, lap times, quarter-mile E.T. and trap speed, and emissions.
We snagged Ryan Gates' now-infamous EVO X time-attacker for last-year's event (who went on to earn several accolades post-Top Car competition), and nearly won the whole shebang -- "technicalities" at the drag strip kept his 11.41-second pass and crazy-fast trap speed from earning points (see September and December '09, and January '10 issues for more).
This year, we're asking for your help. Got an import capable of holding its own against big-power domestic muscle, high-dollar European exotica, and other performance-tuned imports on the dyno, drag strip, and race track? We want to know about it. If we pick you, Castrol will give you $1K to get out here, and we'll use our "industry connections" to help tie up some loose ends with your car (schwagging that $4K suspension you're waiting on, perhaps?), and if we win, you'll get another $10K from Castrol, we'll throw you a party . . . and the girlies will naturally follow.
