Just wondering if anyone has ever had anything like this happen.  My driver's license expired. While I was at the DMV I figured it was a good time to get my motorcycle permit again since that was expired as well, so I took the test and passed. Done deal.

A month and a half go by and I still haven't received my renewed license in the mail AND they didn't issue a temporary paper driver's license, so I call the DMV "hotline." The lady I talked to (the most rude person I have ever talked to on the phone) tells me that I will not receive my new license until I complete the motorcycle license test. She told me that if I renewed my license and received it in the mail BEFORE getting my motorcycle permit, everything would have been fine, but now I am forced to take my motorcycle license test when I wasn't planning on taking it for a while since the permit expires in a year.

I'm lucky they didn't trip about my expired ID in Vegas and they don't hassle me at local bars, but I'm more concerned about getting pulled over and ticketed for driving without a valid license.

I'm stumped on what to do since calling the DMV got me absolutely nowhere and I don't want to make a trip to the DMV for nothing, but I think that's what I'm going to have to do.  So basically, the DMV is holding my renewed, valid driver's license hostage using the logic that a motorcycle permit is a pending license test.  So I guess my options are either take the motorcycle test or cancel my permit, get my renewed license in the mail, then re-take the motorcycle permit test.  Wow do I hate the DMV...
