Subaru Impreza WRX STI GC8 2.5 RS Autobacs

No matter what make or model we drive, we are all gear heads.  Whether you're a Honda guy (or gal), Subaru or Mitsubishi fan, Toyota faithful, Nissan enthusiast, rotary nut, or Euro lover, there are tons of people out there just like you, and it's often acknowledged by the friendly wave displayed by the fellow motorist behind the wheel of a similar car.

Driving around a modified Subaru WRX has brought a fair share of waves from the Subie community.  Of all the different communities out there, I would have to say Subaru people are the most hardcore about their friendly waves.  Even when I go to events or shows, us Subie guys stick together.  There is even a Subie Gal or two along the way (as seen with this beautiful 2.5 RS).  Check out this picture to see what I mean.

The thing that sparked this blog though is the realization that we are all a part of the same community.  Even though the EVO and STI battle rages on, along with little side wars between N/A and turbo people, we can't lost sight of the fact that we all come from the same breed.  This was brought to my attention while driving home from the Groovy Drift R/C Drift event where this picture was taken.  After leaving the mini Subie meet that sort of came out of nowhere, I was checking out a clean 350Z in my rear view on the drive home.  When I got into the left turn lane, the driver gave me a nice thumbs-up for my car.  Of course I returned the gesture and continued on my way.  It's nice to know that we can all get along.

Having a tight knit, niche community is great.  It gives people a chance to show off their pride and joy, learn more about their cars, find new parts, meet new people, etc, but we all need to realize that we are all car people regardless of what you drive.  So next time you see an SRT-4 trying to race you at every stop light, just smile and wave, give them a nice thumbs up.  That's exactly what I did on the way home as well - (just playing around guys)
